Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania, is a breathtaking and majestic destination that offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience for adventurous travelers. Here are five compelling reasons why
Combination Safari
This 12-day adventure combines the challenge of climbing Africa’s highest mountain with the thrill of exploring Tanzania’s most iconic national parks. Begin with a 7-day trek on the scenic Machame Route to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m), standing on the “Roof of Africa.” After your achievement, reward yourself with a luxury safari through Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti, home to the Big Five and the Great Migration.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you’ll be met and transferred to a comfortable lodge in Arusha. Meet your mountain guide for a briefing and gear check before dinner and overnight.
Drive to Machame Gate and begin your Kilimanjaro climb. Trek through lush rainforest, spotting monkeys and colorful birds, until you reach Machame Camp for your first night on the mountain.
The trail climbs steeply up ridges and across open moorland, offering views of Kibo Peak. Arrive at Shira Camp, set on a high plateau with stunning panoramas.
Hike across volcanic landscapes to Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization, then descend to the scenic Barranco Valley. Overnight at Barranco Camp, famous for its dramatic cliffs.
Climb the Barranco Wall, an exciting scramble with incredible views, then continue across valleys to reach Karanga Camp. A shorter day allows for rest and acclimatization.
Ascend steadily to Barafu Camp, the final base before the summit push. Rest early, as you’ll wake up before midnight for your attempt on Uhuru Peak.
Begin your trek in the dark, climbing slowly towards Stella Point and finally Uhuru Peak—the summit of Kilimanjaro. Celebrate at the “Roof of Africa” before descending to Mweka Camp for overnight.
A gentle descent through rainforest leads you back to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificates and transfer to Arusha for a hot shower, dinner, and well-earned rest at a luxury lodge.
Your safari begins with a drive to Tarangire, known for its giant baobabs and massive elephant herds. Game drives continue until sunset before overnighting in a luxury lodge.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder teeming with wildlife. Spot rhinos, lions, wildebeest, and flamingos during a full day of game viewing before returning to a lodge on the rim.
Travel into the Serengeti, enjoying game drives en route to your luxury tented camp. The plains are alive with wildlife, from prides of lions to migrating wildebeest (seasonal). Sunset over the savannah makes for an unforgettable evening.
Enjoy a final morning game drive before your scenic flight back to Arusha. Connect with your international flight home or extend to Zanzibar for a beach escape.

The tour guide was so knowledgeable, charming and helpful. The park is so huge, we wish we had more days to explore, we can't wait to come back next year. I would say once in a lifetime but it was so great that I plan to go back. Outside of the major goals (making it to the planned campsites) the trip was yours. If you want to watch lions stalk for 2 hours and leopards eat for 5 minutes the choice is yours. You can spend an hour watching dung beetles work. Dickson our guide shared his knowledge and was attentive to our needs. I never dreamed we would see so much in one trip. A lot is the luck of the timing (seeing a cheetah stalk, chase and take down a wildebeest for instance) but if you mention you want to see something and it's in the area Dickson will track it down. The places they chose to stay for our trip were 1st class. Never thought camping would be so nice. Meeting local Maasai and having them share their lives and views was very enlightening. I highly recommend Jovial Safari! ELISHA MHINA2024-05-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
